The character concept work for Ramanujan, the protagonist of Antariksha Sanchar. While the direction was shaped collaboratively with the team, the visual design and exploration were done by me — interpreting a real historical figure into a playable game character.
The brief allowed for creative freedom in how Ramanujan would look and feel, while staying true to his South Indian roots. The exploration covers face studies, hairstyle options, costume variations, and childhood sketches — working through different versions to find the right read for the character at different points in the game.
A key aspect of the design is the Kolam markings — the traditional South Indian floor art pattern applied to Ramanujan's body as a visual indicator of the powerups he gains through the game. This gave the character a layer of cultural depth while also serving a clear gameplay function, making it one of the more meaningful design decisions in the series.
